What Can I Do Next?

If you have been diagnosed with an arrhythmia

After the doctor diagnoses your arrhythmia (ECG), he or she may use various other non-invasive tests such as an exercise stress test or echocardiogram to further pinpoint the location of the problem. If an ablation procedure is recommended, the physician can make a precise recording of the electrical impulses and their distribution in your heart to conclusively identify the problem. Then he or she will confirm the tissue to be ablated as well as confirm normal conduction of existing pathways.

If you have not been diagnosed

If you have recurring symptoms associated with abnormal heart rhythms, be sure to tell your physician about it. He or she may refer you to a cardiologist, who may in turn order tests to determine if you have an arrhythmia.

If you are going to undergo a CryoAblation

Following a catheter-based cryoablation procedure, you must remain on bed rest for four hours to ensure that the catheter insertion site heals properly. The ablation procedure is commonly a same-day procedure, but sometimes an overnight stay in the hospital is required. If you have any concerns or questions for your doctor, be sure to discuss them with him or her. It often helps to write them down before the appointment.
