Valeria Chupp

Thanks to CryoAblation, Valeria is now a healthy child with a full life in front of her

Although she was almost three years old when she had her ablation, Valeria Chupp had the body weight of an 18-month old. This little girl, who lives in an Amish community near Iowa City, had Heterotaxy Syndrome, a condition that left her with just one ventricle. When brought into Children’s Hospital, her heart rate was more than 200 beats per minute.

Doctors cryo-mapped and found that she had two AV nodes requiring ablation.

Valeria’s small size made the procedure all but impossible with traditional RF ablation. Dr. Law successfully used a Freezor catheter to perform the operation. “We wanted the best for our child and we put our faith in the technology and the doctors,” say her parents Don and Mabel. Valeria is now a healthy, normally developing child with a full life in front of her.
